Chapter 8 : Orkut: The much talked site on the internet.
What ORKUT is to say in this matter. (from Orkut’s web site.)
orkut is an online community designed to make your social life more active and stimulating. orkut's social network can help you maintain existing relationships with pictures and messages and establish new ones by reaching out to people that you have never met before.
orkut makes it easy to find people who share your hobbies and interests, look for romantic connections or establish new business contacts. You can also create and join a wide variety of online communities to discuss current events, reconnect with old school mates or even exchange your favourite recipes.
Who you interact with is entirely up to you. Before getting to know an orkut member, you can read his/her profile and even see how he/she is connected to you through the friends network.
To join orkut, simply sign in with your Google Account and you can begin to create your own profile right away. If you do not have a Google Account yet, we will help you create one in minutes.

The site is providing the platform for discussing the issues like groups on google and yahoo. But unlike the discussion is open. On ORKUT, there is no mail received in your e-mail inbox. But here you can search the person of your interest, interacts with him.
To start, type www.orkut.com in address bar and press enter. The login page appears. If you have any email address type it (with @yahoo.com, @rediff.com as the case may be) enter password. At the first time it ask for updating the profile, in which you are required to give details about your self. Like your interest, collage, ect.. This will enable others to find you by search. At the beginning you can skip the update profile. (NOTE: As discussed in news papers and articles, it may not desire to disclose your critical information like phone/mobile number, address, credit/debit card number, ect.. So, update profile it with care)
In the beginning the ORKUT is seems boring, as you have not started any activity. Try to find out some members of your interest. Like your school / college friends whom you didn’t meet from long period. Peoples to whom you are in contact around you in office/club/social forum/ ect.. It is possible that you can able to find one. Start interacts with them. It is not possible that there are also on-line when you log in. so, leave the message for them that you are on orkut. When they log-in they also surprise that you are also there. Gradually you will soon able to like ORKUT and takes benefit of netting.
If unfortunately, you can not find your person friend or known one. There are number of persons on ORKUT, to whom you can contact. Try to search the person of your interest. Like income tax, cricket, TV serials, Filmy Star (
Like groups on google or yahoo, here also a group but it is called community. Each community is there for specific subject matter join some, involve yourself in discussion with other. You will find interesting. Discuss income tax, cricket, share market, ect..
Finally your friend is on the ORKUT yes i.e. r.r.makwan. Just find me on orkut it is very easy. Write Rajkumar Makwana Gandhinagr in search box on ORKUT , you may able to locate my profile. Click on it. You will find my profile at ORKUT. You can find one link “more >>” click there, and select add as friend. As I set my profile, where my friend only can interact with me, so, sending a friend request is necessary. (Not necessary for other profiles on orkut, if they do not set their account to that). I am on net during evening and not during the office hours, so, it may take one day for you to start interact with me.
I have created on community called my collection, (search it), and be a member. Where many internet like stuff are available which lead you to beautiful world of the internet. You may find interesting links of various web pages for every subject. From downloads of songs, internet radio, SMSes, Health, computer techniques, ect..
